Worthy of Your Attention

My heart is filled with great sadness today. For you see, I finally got around to watching episode #58 of The Wire last night. I won’t spoil it for those of you who have yet to watch it, but just know that despite the crushing bleakness (a staple of the show), it was one of the finest hours in television history. This cannot be argued.

(I have no idea why I’m telling you any of this, by the way, but the program has had a tremendous effect on me.)

There are only two episodes remaining in this, the fifth and final season, and it’s a shame that programs like The Sopranos have garnered so much more critical acclaim and attention from the viewing public in spite of their inferiority. Kinda like Dirk Nowitzki winning last season’s MVP over people like Kobe, LeBron and Duncan.

Speaking of Dirk, his squad goes up against the Spurs in San Antonio tonight. I fully expect Tony Parker to remind everyone how foolish the Spurs were when they seriously considered trading him for Jason Kidd following the 2003 Finals.
