Nice dunk by a guy, who’s career was in danger not too long ago.
Great to see him back.

Nice to see him explode to the hoop. Still, Calderon better not lose his starting spot now, Spaniard’s on some whole new level of efficiency

Agreed. And ford fits better in the second unit because he can draw 2 defenders, opening it up for Kapono

dude seems to get better everytime he comes back from one of those serious injuries.. kudos!

i’ve been sayin this from the beginning of the season and i’ll say it again.. its only logical to play both ford and calderon on the starting lineup.

Then who would run the second unit?

crazylee12 says:
floe- it is absolutely NOT logical to play both Ford and Calderon in the starting lineup! You mean to tell me that you think it would be a good idea to have a 6′3″ PG and a 5′10″ SG? We(The Raps) would get eaten alive by bigger guards who could just shoot overtop/post-up TJ. I love the guy, but keep Jose as the starting PG and bring TJ in to run the second unit/give Jose a break.

that backcourt would be very thin (literally) and small, they’re better off having them split the minutes and allowing delfino and parker to split the minutes at the 2. they’re stacked at every postion except for (true)center.

floe says:
you pull one guy in the first qurter and u rotate the rest of the game between the two until the 4th

floe says:
also, they would obviously be switching matchups on the defensive end.. calderon’s capable of gaurding 6′5 SG’s.. it worked for the ‘01 sixers.. the raptors could use that extra option on the offensive end.

RV says:
I think they’re better off starting with one and then whoever is running the offense best at the end should play in crunch time, thats the best way to let them play to their full potential, without having one settle for being a shooter/scorer.

RV says:
Calderon is only 6′3, i dont think guarding guys like Brandon Roy is in his (or the team’s) best interest, let delfino/parker/graham guard them

floe says:
rv, you make valid points, but the way i feel right now is we’re getting killed by gaurds like kobe and roy right now anyway.. might as well try to match up on the offensive end. also, maybe switching ford over to sg might help him reach his maximum potential like it did for iverson. he definitely has the explosiveness to build upon but maybe its just not realistic given his history of injuries. i just wanna see if it works.. i know it wont work every night against every team, specially against teams with marquee gaurds like the lakers or portland or cleveland but there’s definitely instances where it could be the raptors best option. plus a starting lineup of calderon, ford, moon, bosh and bargnani would be helluva fun to watch.

Kevin says:
i like Calderone more as a PG, but TJ Ford brings that intangible uppity edge that the Raps need coz they don’t have enough shot-creators..

RV says:
floe, increased playing time would help TJ reach his potential, he’s missed a lot due to injuries and sharing minutes with calderon, but he’s never been a scorer or much of a shooter, (except at the FT line) and is now just barely a decent jump shooter, but the only way he’ll score more by moving to the 2 is by shooting more (which isn’t a good idea because he’ll still not shoot a great %)because i think he reached his potential when it comes to shooting percentages and his mechanics don’t allow him to fire up shots like AI, in high school he scored on athletic ability, but even in college he didn’t score a lot.
