The joy of Being a Hawks Fan
As Atlanta slowly fades out of the Playoff picture in the East, AJC columnist (and friend to SLAM) Sekou Smith blows a gasket in his latest blog post. Ah, Hawks Basketball. So good, it hurts.

Sekou snapped! He’s usually pretty level headed and calm. And he posted this at 1:52 AM. Must be tough getting sleep when you cover the Hawks.

Please hawks take my sixers out of their misery. We don’t belong in the playoffs.

Well Khalid, it seems you do

We Hawks don’t belong in the playoffs either

Russ Bengtson says:
As someone who’s been reading Marc Berman’s (NY Post) and especially Frank Isola’s (NY Daily News) Knicks blogs, that stuff seemed almost tame.

Khalid and Co Co, to quote Geoffry from the fresh prince: It’s a tie, you both lose.

Russ Bengtson says:
And pretty much no Eastern teams besides the Celtics, Pistons, Magic, Cavaliers and maybe the Raptors BELONG in the playoffs. But as long as they’re gonna have this system, someone’s gotta go.
Feb.27 at 3:44 pm
Krayzie Bone says:
The Raptors are suspect.

Jukai says:
Why don’t they just let some bottom tire western teams compete in the eastern playoffs?
Feb.27 at 3:49 pm
Russ Bengtson says:
It’s all about changing the playoffs to The Sixteen. It’s not biased towards any particular conference and just places the 16 teams with the best records in the playoffs. What could be more fair than that?
Feb.27 at 3:50 pm
Jukai says:
Damn man, I’ve read some of Isola’s too.. but some of that Hawks stuff was downright harsh.
Feb.27 at 3:51 pm
Krayzie Bone says:
They may change it when the bring in the euro division

Krayzie Bone says:
Agreed Russ

i’m quoting myself from another post: “the best way to do this really is just to do league wide 1-16 straight up, but that will completely kill the concept of conference, and as we all know, stern loves to stick to the rules 100% and exclaims ‘die non-conformists die!’”

Young C says:
The idea of The Sixteen makes so much sense that The League wont possibly use it. Thinking of the Blazers getting a higher draft pick than the Sixers make my stomach turn. Theres no reason a team with as much talent as the Blazers should have a pick higher than the Sixers unless they owe it to them via a trade. This is part of the reason why the west just keeps getting stronger and the east just keeps sucking…u know, besides the sucky eastern conference GMs.

didnt’ even think about the lottery picks situation. good call Young C.

young C, thats a really good point. keeping the conferences just makes it easier for itinery and travel though.
