T-Mac Hates His Own Gym
You know, I’ve heard hundreds (maybe thousands) of excuses from NBA players over the years when asked to explain their shooting woes. Everything from injuries, bad team chemistry, and a general lack of confidence. It’s not often that you hear guys, superstars at that, complain about their own gyms.
That’s exactly what Tracy McGrady is doing, though.
“I really feel a lot of guys are not comfortable playing in this arena,” McGrady told the Houston Chronicle. “It’s not a good shooting arena for whatever reason.
“It’s not just our guys. It’s guys around the league. They hate our arena. Who was the last player to score 40 in our arena?”
Bet you won’t be seeing that quote in the program guide at the Toyota Center anytime soon!
T-Mac might be right, too. Only Allen Iverson has cracked the 30-point mark this season in that arena. Luckily for McGrady, his Rockets are embarking on a three game road trip.

tmac said this like a week ago, maybe 2 weeks, yao put up 36 earlier this week, i agree with some of what he’s saying, because background and the layout of the arena can affect shooting, but its crap to say it about your home gym where you practice all the time…

that’s a pretty lame excuse… it’s even worse coming from t-mac because Yao Ming’s on his team, and Yao is from Shanghai, where along with the rest of southern China, the study of “feng shui” is very much revered… i’m sure Yao knows somebody who can go into the Toyota Center, place a few rocks in obscure corners and turn the fortunes of the under-achieving Rockets around…

All this T-Mac hate… IMO Vince is 10x as bad… T-MAC always plays abolutely great in the playoffs. I realize he and his tam always blow it but he steps up in the playoffs as opposed to Vince who is an immense waste of talent.

i remember reading in Michael Jordan’s book Rebound that he didnt like the United Center at all when they built it, he thought the lights were at a bad angle and got in his eyes when he shot and the rims were bad.

Mike said straight up after the Orlando series, his fiest in the United Center that he hated that place. Obviously getting beat in a new arena make you sour to the notion, but i’d say he adapted pretty quick.
