Jason Kidd Officially Wants Out of New Jersey

by Marcel Mutoni

As much fun as it is to speculate about where a guy might end up when his name starts appearing in the rumor pages, it’s even more fun when said player comes out and admits that he’d welcome a trade.

After initially denying the story, as has become his custom over the last couple of years, Kidd relented yesterday afternoon and admitted that he’s asked his agent to work out an exit plan.

“I’m not mad at anybody,” he said Monday afternoon by phone. “Sometimes, when you ride a wave, you get to the end and that’s all there is. That’s where we are.”

“It used to be if I got a triple-double, that was an automatic win,” he said. “That’s just not the case now. We tried to make this work. We’ve found out it doesn’t. It’s time for us all to move on.”

The reality of the matter is that Kidd didn’t have much of a choice but to come out and admit that he wants out of Jersey. Everyone knew the Nets wouldn’t give him up so easily, but now with the point guard’s desire to leave made public and the wheels having completely fallen off the Nets’ wagon, Rod Thorn almost has to do something before the trade deadline.
