I’m with Russ… What made it amazing was that Vince and Steve were doing things that not a lot of people thought they could do. It’s all about element of surprise. That’s what made it amazing. Since then it’s been pretty much predictable stuff. I know Amare and Nash tried to mix it up with the soccer move but dunk contest should be all about ONE man against the rim… They should really suspend the dunk contest like they did after Kobe won and didnt resume it until Vince came into league. There’s no next Vince in the league right now, so I agree that there’s no poing of having the contest.

All you need to make a watchworthy dunk contest is make it 6 participants instead of 4, tighten the presentation a lot and let the judges score in decimal points, eg: Vince in 2000 would get a 9.7. MJ vs Nique in ‘88?: 9.8. Birdman?: 1.6. So, who should be in it?
1. Jamario Moon (and he’ll take it out this year too)
2. Dwight Howard
3. Monta Ellis
4. Rudy Gay
5. Nick Young
6. Lebron? (yeah we can only hope, ok how about Gerald Green or David Lee to really mix it up!)
