Big Ben and Joakim Noah Aren’t the Best of Friends
I think it’d be fair to say that rookie Joakim Noah hasn’t exactly endeared himself to the vets on the Chicago Bulls’ roster. On Sunday, Ben Wallace and Adrian Griffin spear-headed a team vote that led to Noah being forced to sit out a second consecutive game as punishment for disrespecting an assistant coach in front of the whole team.
Last night, perhaps not surprisingly, things got testy between Joakim and Big Ben.
At halftime of the Bulls/Magic game in Orlando, as the Bulls were getting their asses handed to them, Noah and Wallace reportedly had to be separated by teammates in the locker room.
Noah walked into the room loudly complaining about Bulls players laughing on the bench, then Wallace confronted Noah, and Luol Deng had to step in and pull them apart, the witnesses said.
Good thing Luol stepped in, because if a fight broke out, I’m not so sure Joakim would’ve come out of it alive.
Whenever I think about Joakim, I picture the d-bag newcomer you occasionally have to deal with at the office. You know the type: Over-eager, obnoxious, a little too loud, and generally the kind of person you try to avoid during the lunch break. And you know what happens to those people? Usually, their contracts aren’t renewed or they get fired pretty quickly. Just saying…

it’s funny cuz i don’t like noah just cuz he seems like a f’n annoying kid, just based off the way he looks and acts sometimes. but it’s embarassing that a rookie has to call out guys whoa not only are playing sh*tty, but are f’n around on the bench while gettin their asses beat. at least the guy shows some pride in wanting to win.

basically, i feel it’s not a matter of he shouldn’t have said what he said about the lack of focus on the team. it’s the fact that he shouldn’t HAVE to be the one (as a rookie) to call on his older teammates to focus and take the game seriously. that’s just embarrassing.

I’m so gonna buy a Joakim Noah jersey. He’s overeager and undoubtedly annoying at times, but why do I get the feeling he wants to win more than anyone else on that roster? Watch him have a better career than Big Fraudulent Ben.

No, I wouldn’t want someone who has about the same basketball ability as you in a 6′ 10″ frame. And is that supposed to bother me, Senor Jones, or have you not realized I’ve been hearing it from EVERYONE here for the last two months? And if the Bulls are that much better than the Heat because of Noah’s scary talent, I should rewatch their games this season, huh? Dummy.

I agree with Ryan for what it’s worth. Joakim actually cares about losing. Sure, he’s a rookie and thinks he’s better than that status but he’s showing a bit of fight. Bulls fans haven’t seen that for a long time. Take note Ben.

You hadn’t previously heard it from me, eboy, and this seemed like as good a time as any. I’m just saying, young kids who play with energy and emotion and actually overreach their talent are rare enough in this league. I’m not gonna hate one of the few who’s doing it, particularly when Hall of Famer Ben Wallace and his 6.5 ppg career average are on the other side of the argument.
Jan.16 at 10:51 am
H to the izzo says:
Yeah…anyway. At least Noah seemed like he actually wants to win something this season, unlike a washed up hasbeen like Ben Wallace putting in very little effort for the team and being grossly overpaid while doing it.And also,Wallace has less all round ability than Noah.

Word Tad. I side with Jones on this one. At least Noah gives a damn. Ben’s career has been odd to say the least. Overlooked and slept on until he got to Motown, priding himself on hustle with no offensive game whatsoever, then he became the PR face of “the best starting 5 in the NBA” because of his hair, which apparently made his ego grow in inverse proportion to his production, and now the son of a tennis player has to piss him off to motivate him.

white hot eboy says:
To the two Irish breathern, I’m not condoning Ben’s actions, nor do I like him either. But there is a time and a place for reactions and comments, and this is about the third incident that your moronic hero has been involved with, second in the last 3 days. Ryan, since you work and Izzo doesn’t, put yourself in the postion of making a salary. A new person comes in, doesn’t like your work style or effort, tries to undermine you in front of your peers and make’s you look like an as*hole, even if it’s not warranted. Do you sit there and take it, or do you try to make that person understand that what you do is your business and you both draw checks from the same place, so maybe you should mind your business and concentrate on your work without drawing attention to yourself? It’s not a sports analogy, but it’s making the point that there is a heirarchy in the league, and it should be followed, whether you agree with it or not.
Jan.16 at 11:01 am
white hot eboy says:
And for those of you who agree with Ryan, you must all lead a charmed life, free of criticism.

H to the izzo says:
I don’t like Noah. When you’re getting paid huge money to help a team with potential try and reach that potential and when that team is struggling your laughing on the bench and not trying as hard as you should(you should be trying the hardest because that’s what you do) you deserve to be confronted.Noah shouldn’t have been the person to do it.It should have come from the coach, but when you’re a player who’s trying his hardest to get a win and you see the supposed star with the biggest paycheck not giving a f*ck that would p*ss me off too.
Jan.16 at 11:06 am
white hot eboy says:
Izzo, you saw the game?
Jan.16 at 11:07 am
Ryan Jones says:
I don’t think your analogy successfully crosses the bridge, eboy. Professional basketball players make millions of dollars and go to work in front of millions of people. I’m an editor at a university alumni magazine. I wouldn’t deal well if TV cameras followed me out of the shower after work, or if people asked me questions about all the grammatical errors today I made while I’m pulling my boxers on. Very different work places, very different realities. All that said, I understand why Noah’s youthful impetuousness rubs you wrong, and I agree it’s problematic in some ways, and that he should be put in his place — to an extent. I just think he’s got enough going for him that I’m willing to overlook it, on the assumption that he’ll grow up over the next few years.
Jan.16 at 11:08 am
d.Y. says:
Eboy, screw that “stay in your cubicle” plan. If the business demonstrably sucks, take it to the famous overpaid guy who’s not pulling his weight. Maybe you get fired, maybe you get punched in the face. Those things happen. The end result will be change. Better than being stuck in mediocrity.
Jan.16 at 11:08 am

I think the truth we’re all avoiding here is that eboy must have dealt with a Noah-esque young colleague recently, and is still bitter about it. Please give specifics, homey.

I see where both the arguments are coming from, Varejao’s twin should keep his mouth shut when it comes to drawing attention and getting at coaches, but you gotta admire his hustle and that he wants to win. If i was a bulls fan he’d prolly be my favorite player on the team besides Duhon, who’s my favorite player in the L regardless.

Jan.16 at 11:18 am
BETCATS says:
Jared he is not that good. Sure he has desire but so does Keith Closs. I think the bulls need to rid themselves of Noah by putting him on a art with Steve Carrel and push it into the middle of the ocean. That would end everybody’s movie and basketball problems
Jan.16 at 11:18 am
white hot eboy says:
d.y., you must not understand the English language, which is fine, because I’ve always liked your arguments and comments. “Stay in the cubicle”? What are you talking about, son? I’d have knocked that gangly bi*ch out if he spoke to me anyway out of the ordinary, in a basketball setting. Ryan, I don’t have to deal with as*holes, if I don’t like them in my work enviornment, I terminate on demand. And no, there is no youngster getting my ire up, just going off basketball teams, leagues, etc. I’ve been involved with in the past and as someone who respects the history of the game, it’s should be a given that a rookie doesn’t make these type of asinine comments and actions when trying to make their spot in the NBA or any other league they are involved in. I seem to remember a certain lover of Ryan’s who didn’t criticize his teammates the first year in the league, while playing on a crappy team, when he had every right to do so. The difference…….class from that player. That’s why he is a global icon and a huge fan favorite today. Learn it, people, it’s not too difficult.

NBA Observer says:
This reporting is incorrect. “At halftime of the Bulls/Magic game in Orlando, as the Bulls were getting their asses handed to them” Asses were handed, but it didn’t happen until the 3rd quarter as Holly pointed out in her daily game run down. The Magic dominated the 3rd scoring 32 and giving up only 10. The 10 didn’t even come until Jim Boylan removed Ben Wallace at the 7 minute mark. “The Body” is a moot nickname. It’s irrelevant. Ben Wallace is more like “The Pyramid” because he is big, but he doesn’t move anymore. His feet are slow. His quick elevation is gone. His desire is null. He’s a crumbling wonder of the NBA world.

I dont think it’s fair to say he has no integrity, he’s going through an adjustment period. You think teams wanted to draft joakim for his class and his respect for the game? No, they wanted someone who was gonna play his heart out and rile up the fans. That’s all he wants to do. I don’t disagree that he comes off like an as,shole, because he does, sh!t i don’t even like him, I just think he’s probably the best thing for that team right now, someone who actually cares about winning.
Jan.16 at 11:32 am

d.y., so Lebron was a coward in his rookie season for playing on a crap team and not criticizing his teamates and coach for not giving him the enviornment he wanted? d.y., I was young once, too, and I know alot of times holding your toungue is hard, but believe me, especially in the high dollar profession these dudes play in, Noah’s hurting himself WAY more than he’s helping himself, regardless of what the other “experts” here are saying. It comes down to dollars for these guys and Noah’s dollar count will be affected negativly by his actions, not improved.

BETS, I think Big Ben was a big part of the Pistons back when they won their ring but he’s got no hustle now and that won’t cut it on ther Pistons now. Maybe going back to the Pistons would revitalise him but it’s a helluva big gamble on Detroits part.

I agree that Noah needs to know his place, but I also agree that Ben shouldn’t be joking on the bench. Honestly, they are both wrong. Jan.16 at 11:43 am

white hot eboy says:
Everyone today is pretty fu*king dense. Ryan, I do love you (no ghey, ok maybe a little) and you are one the few people I love to battle against, but you can’t see the POINT I’m trying to make in regards to Lebron as a rookie? Lebron was the franchise, from the initial tip against the Kings. He would be one of the ONLY rookies that would be understood in his criticism of his team if he went that route. He didn’t, regardless of his talent level, which shows he understood his place in the game. I think he may have even said something like “I’m a rookie, it’s not my team, we’re a team together” or something to that effect. That shows intelligence and wherewithall, none of which sits with your boy in the Bulls uniform.

LeBron certainly gave off the image of a perfect rookie, but I think we all know it didn’t take him long to exert his influence behind the scenes (see: Silas, Paul). So did a young Earvin Johnson, my hoop hero. It’s how this sh*t works. I do understand your point, and I agree that Noah has overstepped his bounds somewhat. But as stated, I’ll accept that as part of the package from an overachiever who plays with passion, something that hasn’t applied to Ben Wallace for about 4 years.
Anyway, let’s stop arguing. I’ve got work to do, and you’re making me horny.
Also, seriously, make sure you find that Tom Cruise vid (or check the link above if it ever shows up). Fascinating stuff.

H to the izzo says:
And there’s obviously a deeper thing going on between Noah and Wallace, would Wallace have gotten another player banned for that one game? Was it neccasary to make that public?
Jan.16 at 11:56 am
Jared says:
I’m not even defending Noah off the court, I think it was a d!ck move to talk back to coach, and it absolutely was not his place to stick it to a vet who made it as a star in the league with his hard work. Noah hasn’t proven anything, he’s nothing but a loud mouth who doesn’t know his boundaries. BUT at least he cares about the game and winning and actually doing his job. I’m just saying give the kid a break, he doesn’t know his boundaries but he wants to win, and that’s an admirable trait in a basketball player in this day and age, especially in the toxic environment he’s enduring, where it seems like more players on his team don’t care about winning than those who actually do care.

nothin personal says:
A bit late,as always. The way I see it, Big Ben got fat, after the contract. He is tired if having to fight for every little thing, cause you’ve got to recognise that nothing was handed to him up to now. So when a young upstart, who’s coming from a winning enviromemt(and is projected to fill Ben’s shoes some day, no less) comes in and tries to shake people out of their serene sleep, big bad wolf goes out of his way “to teach the kid a lesson”. I don’t get it. It’s not like everything was working fine and the newby is ruining the team atmosphere. As for seniority, if Ben was back in Detroit, I might say you have a point. But as far as the Bulls are concerned, he hasn’t done anything but cash in his lucrative checks, and he is definitely not a leader for them. If you want some respect homey, you’ve got to earn it with your deeds. Atleast, that’s my take on this mess…

so what ben actually laughing? i didn’t read everysingle comment, but i didnt see anyone write they saw Ben laugh, the story doesn’t say it was ben, it says “veterans”, could have been anyone else
Jan.16 at 12:55 pm
RV says:
i can easily this happening : noah is in the game doing garbage time, he sees some of the bulls laughing at a certain point in the game, then after the game he tries to be a smart ass and give them a taste of their own medicine because of what they did to him, so he goes off about them laughing, Ben knowing the laughing was an osilated incident, confronts noah for trying to stir things up…
Jan.16 at 1:11 pm
The Cool says:
Noah heads is just to f#ckin big for his damn body. He is never going to be a top cailber player and he will always be a garbage time player. The bulls will drop him before his contract his up with. by the way Planet of the Apes was the best movie ever. Evolution is amazing. play wit it.

Jared comment on 11.56 is so true. NBA Observer says:
bxballer: The Chicago broadcast of the game from Orlando flashed to the Bulls bench in the third quarter after Ben Wallace and Joe Smith were subbed out at the 7 minute mark. Not sure if the Orlando TV crew showed this. However, Ben Wallace and Joe Smith were shown on TV laughing. Not just a muted laugh either. It was head bobbing, hold your hand to your mouth, ear to ear laughing. One Chicago TV broadcast crew guy is a friend of every Bulls fan today because somebody thought they should go to camera X capturing the stand up comedy audience known as the Bulls veterans on the bench while the team is down 30.

You are right $ is for sure a fact in the L, my only point is that the players (albeit in Noahs case, he was born with a silverspoon in his as, so he’s probably accustomed to money) who actually value winning more than money - should be respected. Duncan is a good example - Big Ben the same of the opposite.. If he really really cared he would never have left motown.

Joakim Noah is just a bad basketball player have we all forgotten that? The guy hustles and plays hard but he isn’t good. He is in the NBA because he is 6′11 or whatever the f he is.
Jan.16 at 2:14 pm
Bryan says:
Correction 6′11 and athletic but still athlete doesn’t equal a basketball player.
Jan.16 at 2:15 pm
white hot eboy says:
Jukai, if Noah’s ethnicity is Moron, yes, you are correct.
Jan.16 at 2:19 pm
Jukai says:
Joakim Noah is a great addition to any team. I have no idea what’s wrong with you guys. He’s the type of guy who wont try to take over with the ball but will give the team the energy and ability it needs. The Chicago Bulls are a bunch of scrubs. None of them are likable in the slightest. Deng and Gordon are greedy assholes, Hinrich is known to be stuck up, Joe Smith just looks like a douche, and don’t even get started on Big Bad (basketball player) Ben Wallace. Send Noah out of there.
Jan.16 at 2:21 pm
TADOne says:
Whoa! We are comparing Noah to Ivy?! WTF?! Noah is not gangsta. Noah is a spoiled rich kid with an inflated ego. I’ll agree he plays with passion, but that is what rookies are supposed to do. AI came from sh*t. AI speaks from being from nothing and having to fight for his. He is the complete opposite of Noah.

Jan.16 at 2:30 pm
Bryan says:
According your logic Jukai , I should be in the NBA. I play Hard and I curse my teamates out even though I’m the youngest, I play with passion and intensity. But you know what else I can hit a jumper I can dribble. But I’m not 6′11. That’s it just because the guy plays hard doesn’t mean he can really play.
Jan.16 at 2:31 pm
TADOne says:
Hell Shia, me too. I do all those things well, especially the cursing part. Where is my 10 day contract??
Jan.16 at 2:35 pm

Don’t get me wrong I don’t think I belong in the NBA but the point is valid.
Jan.16 at 2:36 pm
Jukai says:
Bryan, the guy was a threat to score fifteen points and bring down fifteen rebounds back in his Florida day. He’s incredibly athletic too. Yeah, his shot mechanics suck, and his shot blocking is lame for a guy of his size, but he DOES know how to box out, and he’s a very underrated passer. All those other things he’s missing…? They come with practice. Mostly from working with vets on the team. Which he wont get in Chicago.
Jan.16 at 2:37 pm
Lz - Cphfinest3 says:

Noah is the American version of Varejao.
Jan.16 at 2:39 pm
Jukai says:
And Varejao is more valuble than Big Ben and most of the other Bulls. What’s your point?
Jan.16 at 2:39 pm
white hot eboy says:
Jukai Noah, can you please quote us the current stats of your main man? Points per game, rebounds per game and assists per game? You’re quoting college figures, but guess what, he’s not in college anymore. Please handle that sir.
Jan.16 at 2:40 pm
Bryan says:
Being 6′11 and athletic help you get 15 rebounds in college and it was more like 8-10. Yeah practice but shouldn’t you be able to do those things before you get to be a professional?Fact is , the guy is just not a good player. He’s athletic and energetic and tall that’s why he gets a paycheck.

Lz - Cphfinest3 says:
Noah is the same ethnicity as Loyd Daniels, half human half Sam Cassell..

Jukai says:
STAT: Joakim Noah averages more points in 12 minutes than Big Ben is in 34 minutes. Dun dun dunnnn.
Jan.16 at 2:43 pm
Tommy Patron says:
Comparing Noah to LeBron doesn’t make too much sense when you take into account that Noah is a guy that came from years of success in college and now is struggling to find playing time, while LeBron had only high school experience and was a starter from the jump. Additionally, Noah was coming into a team that was in the second round of the playoffs the year before and widely picked to finish high in the East, while LeBron was joining a team that was previously and currently sucking. These seem like those two situations are not extremely comparable.
Jan.16 at 2:43 pm
TADOne says:
My point is that him and Varejao are the same type player: energy guys. They have a role. They are both role players and nothing more. Noah may have a breakout game every now and then, but his game isn’t refined enough for and kind of consistency.
Jan.16 at 2:44 pm
Jukai says:
Bryan, you’re describing Shaq, minus the energetic part. Basketball players make money FOR BEING TALL AND ATHLETIC AND ENERGETIC. Yeah, he messed up for yelling at one of the coaches who was riding him. That’s when Big Ben should go up to the kid and talk to him, explain to him the ropes. Not threaten to beat him up in a locker room. Who is more professional now?
Jan.16 at 2:45 pm
TADOne says:
Noah averaging more points then Big Ben is not a shock. Ben has never been a scorer. 90% of the NBA can score better than Ben. What’s your point?
Jan.16 at 2:45 pm
Bryan says:
Are you serious? Shaq has skills dude. Post ability, Passing ability, high basketball IQ. You gotta be sh*tting me dude.
Jan.16 at 2:46 pm
Jukai says:
Oh, I never said he was a star TADOne. His value is the same as Varejo… he’s an energy role player who will get 10 points and 5 rebounds and bring his team alive and be clutch every once in a while. I’m not expecting anything more from him. I’m just saying, being in Chicago is stunting his remote abilities tremendously.
Jan.16 at 2:46 pm
Bryan says:
And I hate Shaq but come on dude are you serious? Get mouth off Noah’s nuts please.
Jan.16 at 2:46 pm
Jukai says:
Oh get off your high horse Bryan. If Shaq had skills, at this age he’d still be dominating. Boo hoo.
Jan.16 at 2:52 pm
white hot eboy says:
Jukai, I always viewed you as a bit of a simpleton, a nice one, but one all the same, but after your Shaq comment, I just came to the realatization that you are typing your comments from a school for “special” adults.
Jan.16 at 2:52 pm
Bryan says:
14 points and 8 rebounds in 28 minutes is more than Noah could ever hope for in his life. That may be his career year if he ever actually reaches that level.
Jan.16 at 2:54 pm
Bryan says:
And if you put those numbers to scale its roughly 20 and 11 if he played the same minutes he did when he was younger. He’s older so he plays less give the dude a break.

damn, i cant believe this argument rehashed the way it did…can’t compare joakimshaq, but be more open minded, give the kid a chance to make a career. He will never dominate, but he could be a quiet guy who nears a double double like UD
Jan.16 at 3:11 pm
Jared says:
Quiet only in game of course
Jan.16 at 3:13 pm
Jared says:
And Bryan, you and everyone else in here knows that teams stopped drafting based on current skill-sets a good 8 years ago…tremendous upside are the only two words that matter in the NBA draft anymore…see brown, kwame; tzkitishvilli, nicoli, Milicic, Darko; etc…

Jan.16 at 3:29 pm
white hot eboy says:
I saw that, do you actually have NUMBERS!!!
Jan.16 at 3:38 pm
Jared says:
Eboy, How? UD has a better skill-set, but he’ll never put up big numbers. Joakim has the size and athleticism, and hustle, that if he sees minutes he absolutely can put up near a double-double…I know you don’t like him but you really don’t think so?
Jan.16 at 3:40 pm
Jukai says:
Joakim is averaging 4.5 points per game in 12 minutes, Ben Wallace is average 4.4 points in 32 minutes. So Joakim Noah would average 12 points per game playing Ben Wallace minutes.
Jan.16 at 3:44 pm
Bryan says:
12 points in 32 minutes is less than the 14 shaq is putting up in 28.Just saying.
Jan.16 at 3:45 pm
Jared says:
For the love of Christ…Joakim is posting 4.5, and 3.4 on 45% from the field in 12.6 mpg…those numbers aren’t bad for such limited minutes.

i dont think this was a case of noah “caring” about the game more than wallace and smith, if noah cared so much he wouldn’t constantly break team rules and insult the game and his teammates, this was just N oah trying to stick it to them for what they did to him
Jan.16 at 4:23 pm
RV says:
and him being a rookie doesn’t and shouldn’t excuse his behavior, getting outboxed, getting baited into a foul, those are rookie mistakes, being on time and showing respect to a coach are not. This guy was on a great and respected college team/program, i know for sure they didn’t allow him to do that there, so why does he think he can do it now?

Jan.16 at 4:28 pm
RV says:
as for wallace and smith laughing, that’s not too uncommon around the league, they may be upset about the loss, but if something funny happens, they hear something funny, or think of something funny, what’s wrong with laughing? It happends for a few seconds and then they go back to being upset, if noah hadn’t confronted them no one would have brought it up, just like many other games where it has happened
Jan.16 at 4:29 pm

I’m pretty sure they were goofing around and laughing about being totally blown out, RV. If they were upset with every lost, most of them would have comitted suicide by now.

Harlem_World says:
I stopped reading at about 120 in, so forgive me if this point has already been made…BUT…Ben Wallace DOES need to be called out - but it shouldn’t be Noah doing it. Loul needs to call him out. Put the nice guy persona on chill for a minute. Nice guys don’t win championships - you need that killer. Call Ben out, do whatever is necessary to get him playing hard, because he has no talent to play in the NBA at anything less than 100% every night. He’s overpaid, nothing we can do about that. All that can be done is to light a fire under his ass somehow and get him to start playing defense like he used to and rebounding at LEAST at a 11rpg clip. I can understand why Noah called him out, but it wasn’t his place to do so.
Jan.16 at 4:36 pm

RV, when you’re 14-21 and on the way to another blowout loss - AND grossly OVERPAID, you really shouldn’t be laughing at all. I don’t care if Kat Williams is reffing the game, Ben Wallace should not be laughing.*-

Ben shouldn’t be laughing about the loss, but if it was about something else, then what’s the big deal, its an isolated incident, its not like the wizards, where the young guys had been joking around before games too much and it pissed off the rest..
Jan.16 at 9:42 pm
RV says:
jukai, thats exactly why i dont see anything wrong with laughing at a joke here and there, yes they’re having a bad season and yes Wallace is sucking, but they can’t have their game face on 24/7 or they would all have psychological issues..
Jan.16 at 9:47 pm
RV says:
and yall have to remember we don’t have all the facts, we don’t know how things were said, we don’t know if Noah went into the locker room actually upset and heartbroken over the incident or if he went in pointing fingers and acting a fool, and let’s quit refering to the earlier Noah incident as only “yelling at a coach”, it wasn’t that simple, he completely disrespected and talked down to him, having already made a fool of himself by not knowing the plays, and the rest of the bulls punished him because that was the last straw of a string of disobedient actions, not just simple “rookie mistake”
Jan.16 at 9:56 pm
bullsfan says:
What is up with everyone saying this is noah’s fault? Ben wallace is the one to blame. He is the biggest hypocrite. After intentionally bailing on skiles like a little girl, he suddenly insists that noah be punished for “disrespecting a grown man”? He is one of the biggest wastes of money in NBA history. Jim Boylan made a suprising move to go through with the suspension. What he said was that he has no grasp on his loose players and they dont agree with him. Adrian Griffen? The last time he was a meaningful player, he is player in his junior high gym class. You have to hand it to the Bulls staff. They have become the new clippers when it comes to developing rookies. They get a ton of picks, and everyone flops. Is that just happen to be the players, or does that reflect on the program?

Somehow the bulls come out and blow away miami, when shaq has his best game of the year. Miami is really toast. I would be very surprised if they can compete next year as well, and I believe that shaq isn’t going to become any better, because he has no incentive to. The one thing about Shaq that I have noticed in his career is that as he has become richer, has has become less able to force himself to give everything he has to the game, like Mourning did, and now as his gifts decline, he really seems to be unable to muster the will to give it a last kick at the can.

Noah was a member of one the best college teams ever assembled* So we have to realize. The bulls on paper are way better than the Magic. Right now the Bulls Suck!! So u have to take into consideration that sucky feeling that u have to feel loss after loss. Aparently the Bulls do have to much fight in them for them to be on the bench laughing as they get waxed, and it was only the 1st half. Point is, the Bulls still Suck, Big Ben isnt worth his pay check, and no one can blame Noah.
