2008 All-Star Starters

This is official. Word to TNT.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Tim Duncan
Carmelo Anthony
Yao Ming
Kobe Bryant
Allen Iverson

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Kevin Garnett
LeBron James
Dwight Howard
Dwyane Wade
Jason Kidd

Only real surprise is that AI beat out Tracy McGrady, making things a little easier on the coaches (can we get Chris Paul, Baron Davis AND Brandon Roy, please?).

Discuss.

Oh yeah, and Steve Nash too. They should just take 10 guys from the East and 14 from the West.

Thank goodness that T-mac isn’t in the equation no more.

Jan.24 at 9:02 pm

Simmy Sosa says:
So this means McGrady won’t be an all-star right? It sucks, but thats what happens when you stay injured. It so crazy in the West but I would like to see Davis, Paul, and Roy in addition to and D. Williams, GINOBILI at guard. At Forward/Center I would like to see Brad Miller get some love too.

Baron Davis: No. Steve Nash: Yes. They cant all make it…

Jan.24 at 9:17 pm

Dre Baldwin says:
TMac angered the Basketball Gods with his talk of skipping this year’s game after the Vegas game last year. So TMac is not only injured, but not even ASG worthy right now. Serves him right.

Jan.24 at 9:40 pm

WhaHuh says:
I hope KG tones down his intensity for the All-Star game, it would be scary. He doesnt allow teammates to speak to him before matches?

Jan.24 at 9:56 pm

Thomas says:
What is up with no Chris Paul?? He’s easily the best point guard in the Western Confrence.
Tony Parker is a close second.

Jan.24 at 10:02 pm

KobeStopper says:
Neither Parker or Chris Paul are on Steve Nash’s level And it’s nice to see AI start, he deserves it

Jan.24 at 10:22 pm

James the balla says:
Im sooo happy there is no steve nash!!!

Jan.24 at 10:37 pm

gdon says:
Yes. The Tmac thing would’ve turned out ugly. Check out the vote totals on NBA.com… pretty close… I’m betting a little fudging was involved to make the tmac situation go away.

Jan.24 at 10:41 pm

Bubba Chuck says:
f*ck ya my boiz ai & melo!

Jan.24 at 11:03 pm

Reggie Evans says:
TMac can now attend Camp Chen-a-Wanda

Jan.24 at 11:24 pm

Ben Osborne says:
High Times!

Jan.24 at 11:29 pm

Timmyd says:
I praised the lord when I heard that Iverson took over T-Mac in votes!! That means there is even more room for another more deserving gaurd in the West….people keep talking about who should start over who, but I say the problem isn’t with the players it’s that the West is so deep, they have about 10 guys that can start at any given time, I say as long as their all there whocares? I was watching the announcement on TNT and I see that Charles Barkely is resorting back to his 96′ bashing of Iverson this year. I swear Charles is the biggest hater both physically and literally.

Jan.24 at 11:38 pm

poohbiz says:
thomas are you forgeting about that guy named nash?
no way cp3 or tony are better

Jan.24 at 11:40 pm

Lamar says:
yes melo got wat he deserves for 3 years now and good thing iverson started

Jan.24 at 11:42 pm

gdon says:
CP3’s better, parker isn’t. Still, I’ll take both those guys over the Canadian in the playoffs. And I’m from Vancouver..

Jan.24 at 11:48 pm

J says:
Let’s get Sam Dalembert in it instead of Sheed, because he really has had a better year. But that’s only if they don’t do what they should do, and send Bosh as a 5.

Jan.24 at 11:57 pm

R.I.P. Knockout says:
Like I said they need to put the boy CP3, D Will, or Diddy Bop in the ASG.Don’t know how the heck my boy T-mac made it. Plus even if you admit or not Steve Nash is not playing on the level he was playing on the previous two years, I wish David Stern would try to give him another MVP!

Jan.25 at 12:05 am

thasam says:
What’s with some of y’all hating on CP3? Do you guys realize that N’Awlins has the best record in the West right now? That’s right the N’Awlins Hornets. And it aint like CP3 has guys like Stat and the Matrix as his running mates, and that’s why the guys on TNT are saying that he should be considered for MVP. Add the fact that N’Awlins is hosting the game, and much will be made of that alone, the fans there deserve to have someone they can cheer for and maybe it will go a long way towards making NO a basketball-friendly city. Nash has been great as always but if I had to pick one for this year, I’d take CP3

Jan.25 at 12:11 am

whooo! says:
now i know everyone here loves a.i. and melo, but this is why the fans f’d up by voting both of em in: marcus camby. out of those 3, he deserves all-star status the most. no way in hell you should select 3 all-stars to the #4 seed, especially when you consider how tight the west is right now. boston probably won’t get 3 all-stars, so it’d be so odd to see denver with 3. so what happens? camby, who really deserves it, will likely get snubbed.

Jan.25 at 12:24 am

whooo! says:
i think the west reserves should be paul, nash, roy, davis, ginobili, dirk (or j. howard), amare (too hard to justify camby as 3rd nugget).

Jan.25 at 12:37 am

SHINE43 says:
how in the hell is wade starting when he is on the worst team in the league and he hasn’t even played like an all-star!!!!

Jan.25 at 1:15 am

Timmyd says:
whooo!, I will agree that Camby is underrated and a big part of Denvers success so far (I voted for him as much as I could as well), he’s probably the best center in the West, but i’m not sure if he is more deserving to be there then Iverson who was playing 2 positions for that team (due to the injuries at the PG position at the beggening of the year) and is averaging 27 ppg and 7 assists. I think Iverson leads that team in ppg, minutes played, assists and steals. So his nod is well deserved….I love Camby and wished that Denver could have pulled it together to win 4 or 5 more games they SHOULD have won to get the #1 Spot in the West and have 3 starters… but I would rather see Iverson there who’s game is tailor made for the All-Star games and is one of the most popular players in the L (if you’ve ever been to an All-Star game you would see that his jerseys are one of the most popular jerseys walking around)…then Cambys lanky @ss swattin’ D-Wades shots. I’m sorry i’m just keeping it real.

Jan.25 at 1:19 am

jose says:
who else is gonna start for wade, ray ray-no,rip-nope,J-Rich nah,V.C.?maybe but not likely

Jan.25 at 2:02 am

Jan.25 at 2:04 am

will we see tmac in the team

Jan.25 at 2:33 am

SHINE43 says:
I’d start Caron Butler over wade

Jan.25 at 3:26 am

rainman10 says:
next slam cover should be the blazers…with Oden in a wheelchair.

Jan.25 at 4:10 am

oli says:
who would’ve thought that neither t-mac nor vc would play in this year’s all-star game?
have some fun over the weekend, cousins…

Jan.25 at 5:39 am

Stewie Griffin says:
Nash not being a starter is the reason why starters AND reserves should be voted by trainers and players.

Jan.25 at 8:41 am

Russ Bengtson says:
I presume there’s never been an All-Star starter from team with a worse record than Dwyane Wade’s. And I’d take CP3 as a starter over Nash OR Iverson (especially in Nawlins), but that’s just me.

Jan.25 at 8:41 am

Russ Bengtson says:
And at this rate the Bulls aren’t going to have an All-Star until 2028.

Jan.25 at 9:37 am

K22C says:
3rd all-star team anyone?

Jan.25 at 10:01 am

daanswer says:
Iverson was supposed to make it over McGrady, Anyways……..

Jan.25 at 10:16 am

mat smith says:
they should let experts pick, everyone knows the game would be 50x more interesting if nash was pg distributing, AI will probably just shoot 60 layups, fans are dumb…. even CP would be way better than AI, cannot believe nashty wont start, and dwade???? man…..

Jan.25 at 10:41 am

Russ Bengtson says:
You’ve obviously never seen Iverson play in an All-Star game. AI is amazing in that format, playing with other superstars. See 2001.

Jan.25 at 10:43 am

whooo! says:
timmyd, i didn’t say it should be iverson specifically, but i did say having both iverson and melo screws it up for camby, cuz i don’t think he’s the 3rd most important guy on that team. i understand what you say about the fans wanting it and such, but that’s the same reason we were worried t-mac would start - cuz the fans wanted to see it.

Jan.25 at 10:45 am

whooo! says:
maybe wade is the all-star starter with the worst record ever. but what’s worse, voting in that guy, or voting in year after a year a guy who had no chance of playing cuz he was injured (Grant Hill). both are slaps in the faces of others, but at least wade puts up numbers while hill couldn’t even walk.

Jan.25 at 3:01 pm

mat smith says:
some fans just watch highlights, but dont be dissing ghill just cos fans are head nodders, plus a billion people in china love tmac cos he got yao’s back, it should be coaches only voting.

Jan.25 at 3:42 pm

yung C says:
ALLEN IVERSON DESERVES TO BE A STARTER…HE IS AMAZING AND HE SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 50 GREATEST PLAYERS OF ALL TIME..BUT I WOULD RATHER SEE CAMBY THAN YAO!!..HES SOO CONEY..

Jan.25 at 6:26 pm

Steve Trash says:
Finally that loser Steve Nash is outta the picture. Now if only there was a way to take back those MVPs he didn’t deserve…

Jan.25 at 6:40 pm

Jan.26 at 9:16 am

RedRum says:
Brandon Roy is the Tim Duncan of guards… efficient, “boring”, and unappreciated

Jan.27 at 7:24 am

mat smith says:
I agree with sjeezy, and russ I have seen every allstar game since 91, just dont like AI’s game, I think he has made so many kids shoot 1st, and he is meant to be a point guard????

Jan.29 at 11:35 pm

d0ttz says:
I think Baron Davis should definitely be in the All-Star game. He’s one of the only real PGs. Brandon Roy?!?! Are you serious? This guy sucks. He should stop wearing diapers until he can play real basketball.

Feb.1 at 12:14 am

Greg says:
Caron Butler should be starting over Wade. Idiots.
