The John Riek saga continues…

Will arguably the second-best NBA-ready center prospect (behind Georgetown’s Roy Hibbert) be in the League, college or prep school again a year from now?

The native of war-torn Sudan didn’t have it easy coming up–but while he’s in a better situation than before, his life is no less chaotic. For those of you who only know about the
7-footer as a shot-blocking force, this is a must-read.

Can anyone say Desagna Diop, Saer Sene, Hasheem Thabeet and Yinka Dare? I am glad that he has gotten a chance to better his life but, does anyone actually think that he will be a pro?

He’s not really that good to me.You can tell the game doesn’t come to him naturally wit that “catch high, finish high” he’s always doin. He’s not even 100% when he does that he always has to put up another shot when he misses the 1st one.Demarcus Cousins gave him the business this summer.

man its good to hear stories like this,
one of my good friends riiny ngot lived a hard life growing up in sudan, his brother and friends were eaten by alligators crossing a river to escape the torn country heading to kenya
riiny too was a defensive threat, but really didnt shine offensively
he might not be as big of a recruit as john, but he is a D-1 prospect. he played with mike beasley at notre dame prep
i was really fortunate that riiny chose a JUCO in my area, OCCC, where he will shine this year, bcz OCCC has been a regional powerhouse for the past few years, and has and all-american guard in stephan bonneau
i know i kinda dragged my story out, but its nice to see a positive story like this one

John Riek was offered a scholarship by UMass. One year in college will do wonders for this young prospect.
