Cap, I feel you, Dirk is an unselfish dude and great teammate and a team player. However, last night he wasn’t very aggressive, Tony Parker switched on him nearly every possession in the 4th qtr and he was still giving the rock up. He has to shoot in that situation.

Dirk is a softie. The Spurs have so much more mental toughness than the Mavs that unless Dallas makes (literally) 75% of their jupshots thay have absolutely no chance of winning. Terry and Howard are definitely “Spurs-killers” but you can depend on Dirk to dwindle in the clutch. Finals:SPURS over CELTICS in 6! PLay wit it!

I think the right word is not to take more shots, but to be more assertive. As far as I have seen the way Dirk played this season, he doesn’t drive to the rim as hard as last season. He always waiting for the mismatch through pick and roll with either Devin or Terry.

I agree with Ben’s comment 200%. Dirk’s been playing like crap. Have anyone ever seen an MVP of the prior season play this bad before? I’m not saying the other front runners (Duncan, Nash, Wade) are playing incredible ball right now, but Dirk’s the worst. He has this awful passers mentality, and Avery is ACCEPTING it. Dirk is a shooter. He’s a pure, god damn shooter. He should be jacking up shots like Kobe until he gets that shooters touch back in him. He should drive to the basket and even if he loses the ball 300 times and doubles his turnover ratio, he’s gotta keep doing it until he’s back to his old form. END.

last night dirk got 32 and 12, but like Barkley said, he has no impact on the game. there are impact players, and there are stat fillers. impact players are the ones that can grab a rebound, make a basket, draw a chrage, pick a pass, that changes the momentum of the game. dirk just doesn’t have that sense of timeliness. either that or he just can’t do them.

This is an aboration. Every player goes through bad stretches and this is his bad stretch. Soon he will have a break out game and start playing like his old self. I blame part of this on Avery for not calling his number more in the offense, but I blame part of it on him for passing too much. That was what people criticized him for after the playoff loss last year. He wasn’t passing out of double teams effectively. So this year he is taking the passing to the extreme. I would take 21, 8, and 4 as a slump.
