Euro Exchange: #1
BALLINEUROPE.COM makes their debut dispatch on SLAM Online.
Starting this week, BallinEurope will bring you the best, funniest and probably most interesting news from overseas as they collect their very own bullets. Hope you enjoy these kind of posts!
- Did you know that the former Arizona Sun Devil (as well as former Memphis player) Mike Batiste started playing professionally in Belgium and was a regular scorer from the three point line? If you want to know even more about him, check the video from Euroleague.TV
- Here is the video from Danilo Gallinari’s last second game winner during last week’s game
- Another game winner, this time from Serbian Marco Marinovic in the Spanish ACB
- Basketball can be so beautiful
- We talked already about the problems young Europeans faced this year when joining a NCAA team. Now, one of them, Lucca Staiger got the definitive result of his appeal: out for season. Staiger was already not very confident on Iowa State media day a few weeks ago.
- No more Earl Boykins in Lietuvos Rytas but maybe Travis Best in Estudiantes
- Have you heard about the “fashion war” going on between Brad Miller and Beno Udrih? Well it seems that Tony Parker, another European player, tops them all in terms of fashion
- What a night for Basketball in Berlin: Berlin wins a ULEB cup game 141-127 - after battling through 5! overtimes. Three players broke the record for minutes played in a game, which was 55 minutes - the new record: 63 minutes. The games also brought up some discusion about Bobby Brown beeing an NBA player - interesting - you need just one outstanding game and people talk about you being an NBA player
- Are you able to do anything within 0.2 seconds? Euroleague referees thinks so - some other people don’t
- It looks like fantasy games are also huge in Europe. While a lot of people try to win the Euroleague fantasy challenge - which is a VIP trip to the Euroleague final four in Madrid - the Spanish ACB league also has it’s own fantasy challenge. You think having 5 teams is a lot? Listen what Euroleague fantasy manager Javier Gancedo told us: “There are people with 500 and 600 teams (in the ACB fantasy league)” That is crazy! What are the prizes in this league?!
- Let’s end this weeks’ edition with some Euroleague top 10 plays

i was at the game in berlin and there won’t be anybody to forget that game. mediocre at best in the first half, considerably better in the second half, and spectacular in the five overtimes. bobby brown should not be underrated, nba-ready or not. with luka pavicevic, he has the right coach in berlin to improve his point guard skills. and he gets plenty of playing time as the point guard who was supposed to start for alba berlin tore his acl before the season started. brown is still a bit turnover-prone, but has a good stroke and dishes well to the berlin big man after drives to the basket. but aside from brown: a spectacular game with the overtimes, the drama, and the happy ending for home fans. sweet …
