Yes, we do talk about the other team in L.A.

By Seth Ferranti

Our Clippers preview writer doesn’t have internet access, so he mailed us his piece. Click on the thumbnail images below to view the images of the typed preview on a separate page. For the rest of our previews, go here.

ppl still use typewriters? Is this a SLAM Throwback?

Oct.17 at 2:45 pm

mark says:
first, nice piece. I agree that the clippers are doomed to another lottery season although i think you’re belittling brevin knights talents, this guy is a real good set up man. However with out livingston and brand they will be in the lottery again. best bet is derick rose in 08

Oct.17 at 2:45 pm

Tarzan Cooper says:
no internet, come on slam, you’re better than that. you should have let me write the clips preview, $hit

Oct.17 at 2:47 pm

The Best Yet says:
y’all messin.

Oct.17 at 2:49 pm

nick says:
i feel like the fact that it’s slam ONLINE should disqualify Luddites from posting. just sayin.

Oct.17 at 2:52 pm

Sam Rubenstein says:
If you read Seth’s bio on page one (on the left), it explains things.

Oct.17 at 2:54 pm

Cheryl says:
Damn, y’all give dude a break! Yes, the Clips are lottery bound, but with Maggett playing to get the hell outta there, you may see some fire in these boys. But, alas, you will more than likely have two dysfunctional franchises in the Glitter City.

Oct.17 at 2:55 pm

mutoni says:
that was very cool.

Oct.17 at 3:05 pm

Paniscus says:
Tarzan and Nick, you’re both dicks. “Just sayin.” Read the bio and show some respect.

Oct.17 at 3:05 pm

Dallas J says:
wow.. Billy Crystal wasn’t available?

Oct.17 at 3:07 pm

Grenner says:
That was cool, good work Seth. And F*** Tarzan. Let me guess what his preview would be: “Zzzzzzzz”. Then again, that would be pretty apt…

Oct.17 at 3:10 pm

Matt Caputo says:
Seth is the realest.

Oct.17 at 3:12 pm

Ryan Jones says:
Among SLAM writers currently incarcerated, Seth’s status as both the “realest” and “only” cannot be disputed.

Oct.17 at 3:15 pm

jbn74sb says:
It is 2007.
Somehow, the fact that the person assigned the Clippers preview is without internet access, and that slam didn’t care to find a legitimate solution to this problem, is just perfect.
Whenever I think it is rough being a Lakers fan, I can always look across town at our local special olympics franchise and their special olympics fans.
And I thank them for that.

Oct.17 at 3:17 pm

jbn74sb says:
P.S. Don’t drop the soap.

Oct.17 at 3:18 pm

Ryan Jones says:
Bodie, sometime between Dec. 17 and 21 of this year, I will be driving from Los Angeles to Santa Maria. I will pass right through your city. You’ve been warned.

Oct.17 at 3:24 pm

jbn74sb says:
I’ve heard it before, Ryan.
In all seriousness, although your trip will apparently take place sometime between Monday through Friday, let me know if you want to grab a beer, or maybe some lunch since you will be driving. It would not be possible for me to be as much of an a-hole in real life as I am on here. I imagine that you can figure out how to get in touch with me.

Oct.17 at 3:24 pm

Ron says:
WOW!!! that was cool. I need more info on Seth. How long has he been down? Is he there for research purposes? When does he see himself getting out? Where is he serving his time? I need more info.

Oct.17 at 3:28 pm

Ryan Jones says:
I’ll keep you posted. Probably be Thursday or Friday. And I’ll have the fam with me, so please keep the date-r@pe jokes to a minimum.

Oct.17 at 3:28 pm

Jordi Scrubbings says:
Umm, I wouldn’t expect the most from our incarcerated hoops fan brethren, but what about my boy Al Thornton from Florida State joining the Clips? You know he is going to score some points. Got an chance to challenge for ROY as well.

Oct.17 at 3:31 pm

jbn74sb says:
Sounds good. Grandparents are Santa Maria residents, yes? As I mentioned before, my girlfriend is a D.A. up there.

Oct.17 at 3:37 pm

Ryan Jones says:
Yes. My grandmother actually served on the jury for some horrible murder trial up there last year. They may have encountered each other. Perhaps, somehow, even you and I are related, like Cheney and Obama. The world is small.

H to the izzo says:
I can’t read this at all,an eye test is in my future. When you said that your writer didn’t have internet access I was thinking you had gotten an Amish person to write it but this was cool also.

Bodie’s girlfriend is a M1LF.

Big L says:
Al Thornton. He will help this team a lot. Don’t be surprised when Thornton gives it to Mihm, Brown, and Bynum all at the same time.

Oct.17 at 3:50 pm

jbn74sb says:
A (underlined, bold, etc.) D.A., not the D.A. Schmuck.

Oct.17 at 3:51 pm

jbn74sb says:
Big L - Seeing as how Thornton is 4 years older than Bynum, despite being a rookie, should that really be a surprise?

Oct.17 at 3:51 pm

Ryan Jones says:
Your loss. She’s nicety.

Oct.17 at 3:53 pm

Jukai says:
Look at it this way guys… Livingston can’t get any worse!

Oct.17 at 3:55 pm

jbn74sb says:
The D.A. before her was in office for over 20 years, and was the subject of a Michael Jackson song a few years ago as a result of prosecuting him. And this was before the most recent trial.

Oct.17 at 3:56 pm

Paniscus says:
Whaddaya mean, Jukai? Only one knee has exploded so far.

Oct.17 at 3:57 pm

Ryan Jones says:
“PYT,” I assume”

Oct.17 at 4:25 pm

Cheryl says:
You guys got me in tears!! Bodie, i was gonna say something about your age and taste in women, but I am REALLY glad that was just Ryan being Ryan. I’m glad it’s the end of the day, cuz somebody’s gonna wonder why my eyes are wet.

Oct.17 at 4:26 pm

jbn74sb says:
Um, no. Check the wikipedia entry for Tom Sneddon.

Oct.17 at 4:27 pm

Cheryl says:
And Ryan, I read about the Obama/Cheney connection and hoped to get a chance to comment on it here. Lang needs to ask Obama about it when he gets the interview opportunity.

Oct.17 at 4:28 pm

jbn74sb says:
My taste in women, Cheryl, like most men’s, runs toward the opposite, but legal, end of the rectum. I mean spectrum.

Oct.17 at 4:35 pm

jbn74sb says:
More balanced perspective on Sneddon in my next comment. He was my trial practice professor in law school, and I liked him. Bit of a football coach mentality and personality, but a good guy.

Oct.17 at 4:42 pm

jbn74sb says:
To get this thing back on topic, don’t forget to add Korolev to the Clippers long list of lottery losers.

Oct.17 at 5:08 pm

chronically_ill says:
I read some of Seth’s prison stuff on hoopshype. It’s dope that he’s shedding light on some ill prison players. But i dont like how he kinds of glosses over what got these players in prison in the first place. i mean, some of these dudes got time for assault and robbery and things of that nature. The guys that Seth writes about are people who BELONG in prison. You can say that these guys didnt have the opportunities, yadda, yadda, yadda, but the fact is, they could have kept their heads straight and made it to DI or pro. Look at Gilbert Arenas,AI and plenty of other players who’ve overcome difficult circumstances.

Oct.17 at 5:53 pm

Captain America says:
Seth is spot-on. I feel for Clippers fans and for the NBA. Let’s hope Elton has a speedy and full recovery.

Oct.17 at 7:15 pm

Ben Osborne says:
Seth’s prison fiction is intense. If you’re into learning about what it’s like, I’d highly recommend his book, Prison Stories:

Oct.18 at 1:27 am

chiqo says:
you guys couldn’t beat an intern over the head and make them transcribe this?

Oct.18 at 5:21 am

FLUD says:
That was great. And I love the fact it was typed out on pages. Class. Deadly buzz Slam. Spot on Seth. It’s amazing that people seem to feel as if they could have written something better..and that they’re all slightly confused that things can still be ‘mail’… and that’s not a good amazing either.

Oct.18 at 6:09 am

Andrew says:
reading it, seth’s typewriter’s a bitch.

Oct.18 at 8:27 am

Ryan Jones says:
The fact that these comments — on a column previewing the upcoming NBA season — include a link to a book written by a convinced felon and others to the websites of distric attorneys is too outstanding not to be true. Only at slamonline.com…

Oct.18 at 4:30 pm

andre anglais says:
What’s going on here? Don’t you have a magazine to publish? Why am I reading about a california prosecuter’s softball skills? How can Seth write a blog without internet access? What’s up with this country!?
Seriously though, is there no good news (excepting CMaggetti’s contract status) in the other LA?

JpT says:
my eyessss…

Boing Dynasty says:
No offence but i stopped reading this after i found out dude was in jail. Not because i look down on drug users/dealers, but i can he really offer the best perspective on the up comming season, when he lives in a box?
