Injury Roundup

Thanks to the miasma of injuries plaguing the League, and unless you want every other post today to detail who broke what, we’re forced to do an injury roundup:

Battie: Out for the season following rotator cuff surgery.

Howard: Josh’s wrist injury appears to be minor.

Kobe: Hurt his wrist against the Jazz on Tuesday night, but it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.

Iverson: Teammate drove a knee into his thigh during practice. Ouch.

Durant: Might sit out the season opener due to an ankle sprain.

Kidd: Finally, some good news. Old man Kidd should be ready to go on Opening Night, and might even suit up for a preseason game or two.

Kobe: Injured his feelings, appears to be too distracted to play effectively.

I call it how I see it, eboy. Dude has been the worst player on the Lakers thus far in the preseason, next to future HOF candidate Mihm.

JR says:
kobe will beast when the season starts tho. and i’d much rather have a hurt/depressed kobe than a fat/old shimmy.

Kobe will probably go for about 64 opening night. And then play distributor for about a week just to break balls.

jbn74sb says:
Against Houston, and without Odom? I think not. The Lakers will be lucky to be .500 through November - the first month of the schedule is a b-tch.

white hot eboy says:
There would be no better time for it, Bodie. Him against the world. Fu*k it, shoot everything.

Oct.25 at 3:18 pm

jbn74sb says:
I agree, but I’ll be shocked.
I think it more likely that he start the season in “facilitator” mode (read: not trying), forcing Phil to let him gun it once they lose a number of games. And then after he scores 40+ for 10 straight games, they’ll trade him.

white hot eboy says:
Bodie, I really, really, really hate to say this, but I feel bad for you right now. Not too long ago you were all piss and vinegar about the Lakers and now it sound like you are defeated before the first punch. Kobe will move on for sure, but i think the Lakers will be better for it in the long wrong. How about fuc*ing him and sending him to the Wolves for Corey Brewer, Randy Foye and Gerald Green & Telfair.A big move for the Lakers and McHale said he’s not done moving guys. Fu*k it. The Lakers get young and athletic and have alot of chips to make a move next year.

you forgot jr smith…….. he has brain sprain !

Oct.25 at 3:36 pm

jbn74sb says:
At this point, eboy, they are more fun to watch without him.
Short terms success in the form of at best winning one playoff series aint all that sweet anyway.
Move him, and let’s move on. Because the story is not going to die.

It’s a sad day in Lakerland when Bodie is off the Lovetrain. Phil can still make them competitive from game to game. Maybe D-Fish can talk Kobe into showing up without 24 being too much of an asshole in return.

Oct.25 at 3:44 pm

jbn74sb says:
I honestly think everything would have been fine if Al Davis 2007 had not opened his mouth. Granted, Kobe started it by yapping in May/June, but Buss just opened those wounds right back up, and now Bucher et. al. will not let it die.

Oct.25 at 3:50 pm

white hot eboy says:
I think he’ll move late December. Anyone signed in the offseason can’t move until after Dec. 15th, so I think the Lakers phone lines will be burning once Thangsgiving day has passed once all those players contracts become available again.

Oct.25 at 3:59 pm

jbn74sb says:
We’ll see what happens.
From a business perspective, they really can’t move him. As an example, I bought a pair of tix to the Lakers-Warriors game on 12/9 to sell on ebay (fully legal in CA), the face value of which is about $180.
All the uncertainty has rendered them nearly valueless.
Which aint no big deal, but will be for all the companies paying big bucks to advertise during broadcasts, for suites, etc.

white hot eboy says:
Bodie, would you prefer a bunch of talented young cats or a player of almost equal value with a couple of throw-ins as return value?

Oct.25 at 4:11 pm

Madtice says:
Kobe should be traded to the troops in Iraq, shoot the real bad guys there @ 80% accuracy, thus bring the troops back home come Christmas and still be able to get the Lakers to the playoffs. Make yourself useful, young man. Although, I wonder who the “real bad guys” in Iraq are. Kobe’ll figure it out. He knows $hit.

Oct.25 at 4:13 pm

jbn74sb says:
Since I don’t care about the business aspect of things, talented young cats.
No team with a player of almost equal value would be willing to move that player for Kobe, and Wade, LeBron, Melo, Howard, don’t work under the cap.
Unless it were perhaps Iverson - I think Denver might do that.
Now if the player of almost equal value had an expiring deal, which would allow us, in collusion with Nike, to pick up LeBron in a couple of years…
But with Kobe’s no trade clause, it’s just an all around mess.

Eboy - Check out my new default pic. My pops with Lew Alcindor and Bill Walton. BTW - My dad is 6′8″.

Very, very cool. Imagine if you had that type of ability and coolness. Your dad is the man. You, not so much.

Why’s the laker-jazz game cancelled?

Oct.26 at 4:04 am

Madtice says:
Ow, I looked it up (google before ask), they cancelled it because of the fires in San Diego. That’s a nice gesture.
