How about just a standard “Recover soon, feel better, glad you’re alright”?

The truth is somewhere in between both of their comments. And Ivan works for the Post.

You know, Etan Thomas likes to present himself as kind of the anti-Jason Whitlock, but honestly they aren’t as different as he may think. They’re both highly educated black men who like to show off their intelligence at every possible moment to make other people feel less intelligent.

Kind of crazy–do you feel for the guy who had heart surgery, or the guy who got called out unfairly? FYI for your headline, the Times and the Post are two different papers, and Ivan Carter writes for the Post.

Gosh, Etan can be pretty cold hearted sometimes!

The first link doesn’t work for me (maybe a routing issue somewhere in the path of tubes) so I can’t see what Etan was saying, but it looked like he was being an ass for no reason. Although he’s clearly a smart guy and does a lot of great things, he does seem like the type to be a smug ass.

Well, just from what I’ve read and seen him write, he seems like a guy who does a lot of great things for good causes, but he’s just a real asshole to hang out with

I don’t know him so it’s not fair to pass this opinion on him, but it seems as if he’s just an educated athlete using his fame as a forum for opinions that are beyond the intellect of his peers, or at least that they don’t feel comfortable voicing. Athletes (race aside) do not tend to use their fame to address politics and social issues, and Etan is very vocal about his views.

Etan is a clown — ill informed and questionable ethics. He is setting himself up to become the next Mr. Jackson or Al Sharpton — a media whore out ot glorify himself - full of hypocrisy. I really hope he was not implying we should have universal health care. If that poor , sweet , old woman had to wait for 5 years for heart surgery — imagine how long she would have had to wait in England or Canada. My uncle had to wait almost 10 years for hip surgery and finally ended up coming to the states to get it done. Just like most of the rest of the world - they come here to get it done because this is the best system –
