Meet your new HOFfers

The basketball Hall of Fame. Prestigious.

By Sam Rubenstein

The latest inductees to the Basketball Hall of Fame have been announced.

Phil Jackson. Well-deserved. You know plenty about the man.

Roy Williams, who finally got his NCAA title as a head coach a few years ago, is in. As Roy would say in his own words, based on an impression I’ve been working on “Well, by golly gum joe, ol’ Roy is happy to be in the daggum Hall of Fame.” He’s the fastest college coach to 500 wins.

The rest of the list includes: Marvin “Mendy” Rudolph, Texas Western a.k.a. the real life Glory Road, Van Chancellor, Pedro Ferrandiz, and Mirko Novosel. I have to do some reading to learn more about each one of them.
Wasn’t that a newsworthy post? I wish I had something entertaining to add, but the basketball Hall of Fame is the most random organization (if it is an organization) in the world. Do yourself a favor and click on that link to the nba.com news feed I put towards the beginning of the post.

Now if you’ll excuse me, my favorite goofball ladies man is pitching for my fantasy team and the New York Yankees. Carl Pavano, the “American Idle” as they say. He’s already given up a hit and a stolen base.

what about players? Basketball is about the players. Ive never watched a game to see a coach. Fuck the Hall of Fame. And Pavano is terrible.

…and I’m ready to cut Pavano from my team. The Yankees always have that one starter the media loves to beat up and fans love to boo. Vasquez, Kevin Brown, Weaver, Irabu, Kenny Rogers, etc.
Pavano.

Mike says:
Yes to Phil Jackson, but No to Tex Winters? Tex invented the offense that won Jackson 9 rings (with some help from some guys named Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe).
Is Tex not eligible yet? The man was assisting championship teams in the 14th century.

And where is Artis Gilmore? The window is closing for a guy that probably should have been a first-ballot selection, and that’s a god damn shame if you care about basketball and want to see great merits rewarded. Period.

Hey! What about Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton. He helped break the NBA Color Line. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He was a gentleman on and off the court. See his story at…http://movieset.com/sweetwater
