Jordan? Jordan. JORDAN!

Sort of.

Quick recap: I attended Penn State University as an undergrad and recently came back to my alma mater to work and raise my son and eat lots of unhealthy breakfast foods and ridiculously fattening ice cream. Life is good.

However, my basketball team sucks, which, as I’ve pointed out before, is ironic because of the name of the gym they play in.

The Jordan Center. Yeah. Good one.

Well, maybe somebody knew something when they built this place 12 years ago. Maybe they know Mike had a kid who would one day be good enough to play Division 1 ball, but not good enough to play at UNC. Or NC State. Or any other school that goes to the NCAA Tournament on a regular basis.

Maybe they knew we’d be just what that young man needed.

So, Mike: You’re more than welcome to crash in our guestroom, but two things, please: No stogies in the house, and no fat chicks. See you in November.

Cub Buenning says:
Would Jordan’s signing evoke a flood of season-ticket purchases in Happy Valley like Bzdelik’s did in Boulder? Something like 60 in one day, which at a place like CU, is significant. Every college team in the state is going “PRINCETON!”

Ryan Jones says:
Honestly, Cub, I think 87 percent of the student body wouldn’t even hear about it. But hey, the spring football game is only two weeks away…

Hopefully he chooses Penn State. It would be nice to see him starting somewhere rather than riding the bench at a powerhouse.

Ryan Jones says:
Sebastian: I agree, but if you notice the other schools that are actually offering him scholarships, “powerhouse” doesn’t really enter into the conversation.

come to bucknell! yeah, the patriot league isn’t much, but we’re better than penn state i believe, and it’s only a battle between one other team to make the ncaa tournament, where we’ve advanced the last 2 times we were there.

Sebastian says:
Ryan your right, I guess I can change my comment that I hope he goes somewhere where he will play rather that a school like Illinois because he thinks he needs to go to a big time school to follow in his father’s footsteps.

ryan, i’m well aware of that close loss to penn st., but like i said, the chances of going to the tourney are pretty damn good. don’t sleep on the teams the bison beat in the past 2 yrs, ranging from cuse, purdue, pitt (1st loss of their season), kansas, arkansas… all w/ just 3500 kids and scholarship given out just 4 yrs ago.

J*st fuckin with you, whooo. My boys lost home games to Shippensburg and Stony Brook this season, for which we really probably should’ve been kicked out of the Big Ten.

How are you not mentioning that Suhey is going to be playing there? His pops, combined with Sweetness, made for arguably the coolest backfield in NFL history.

Cub Buenning says:
No doubt Ben. He had a great fullback ’stache. Akin to the “Rocky Blier.”

Russ Bengtson says:
This is the son of the Michael Jordan who went to Penn, right?

Ryan Jones says:
Ben: Sorry, I was taking it for granted. The iller fact, from my POV, is that this is the fourth-generation Suney to play football at Penn State. His great-grandpa was an All-American here in the ’30s or something.
Cub: My dad had that same ’stache, which probably explains why I liked both those guys. Too bad Blier went to ND.
Russ: Yes. Obviously.
