Player of the D.A.Y.

He dunks on his teammates

By Sam Rubenstein

Great game Memo Okur, but like I said before, playing Charlotte hurts your chances at Player of the D.A.Y. When someone else has a big night against a certified NBA team, he gets the call.

This comes down to LeBron James and Jason Richardson. LeBron dominated the Cleveland-Houston game with a rusty Yao on the floor and T-Mac throwing up bricks for most of the game. Jason led the Warriors to a surprise win in Detroit.

I’m going with LeBron for Player of the D.A.Y. The Pistons are a cocky bunch, known for overlooking perceived pushovers. This is the second time this season an opponent on a bad team, who once played for Michigan State, has come into the Palace and left with a victory. The other being Portland and Z-Bo’s win. LeBron continues to put up big scoring nights, and this was more of a return to last year’s LeBron with the well rounded 32, 12, and 8. It would have been 13 boards if Sideshow Varaejo stayed out of the way. I loved that Bron taught him through posterization. Dunking on a teammate during a game. I love it! The man likes his rebounds.

Envy me b*tches! Lol i’m kidding I don’t condone the whole “first thing” Anyway, maybe LeBron is starting to hear all the rumblings about his lack of fire and he’s turning it up a bit. I think we should leave him alone and let him become the Champion, or the underachiever, that’s he’s going to be. He’s only like 16!

It was like a volleyball play, where the ball was set, Sideshow Bob jumped, but was just the decoy, and Lebron spiked the ball. … Also, third P.O.D. for Bron, all of them coming within the last four weeks. He must be turning it up for the last part of the season and playoffs.

Do I smell a potential Slamadamonth nomination?

Who cares about Slamadamonth, Blue? The magazine gets to stores about 30 days (or even a little more) then the information was written, and in even more hilarious fashion, they post date the issue month about a month and a half. So you’re buying a magazine written in early January that you get in mid February that has an April date on it. Hell, they’ll release the next issue before April! It’s really ridiculous. That’s why I only read the website. It’s not like it’s an unfixable problem.

You know the funniest thing about that whole sequence was? Watch Blanka (all my streetfighter ol’ skool heads stand up!) aka Varajeo’s face after he realizes what just happened. It’s a look of ‘I know I’m sideshow bob, I’ll always be sideshow bob and I know there is nothing I can do about it…*sigh&’. Classic.

Slamadamonth (year?) has to be James’ double pump baseline dunk he did the other day. Against the Mavs, right?

Dblizzy! says:
Yeah David that dunk was sick, but I think the posterization(???) that Vince gave Nocioni has the top spot right now.

Indeed Tom Jackson. There is no need to play with dates so much. The real problem with SLAM is that they tell us great stories 2 months after they happen, when they have already been debated to death on this here site. The player features and phenom heads up remain the only reason to buy the mag, (which i still do.) which gives us coverage of the finals as the next season is about to start! Ahh, the information age.

I never understood why the issues are post-dated like that. Can anyone from SLAM explain? It is the most ridiculous thing ever - you have a season preview in the January issue and articles based on the first month of play in the March issue. It is bad enough that we can read a sports story 6 weeks after it was written, why post-date it by another 6 weeks? Am I missing something?
