I definitely want to cop’ this issue! I been waiting for “Slam” to throwdown an issue on the “SUNS”. They have had a “stellar” year with “STAT” back!!! Alot of their players are having break out seasons and of course, All Star seasons. Eventhough, they are not going to catch up with the Mavs for the top seed in the West, you have to agree, that their level of play is “FUN” to watch. Makes me enjoy the NBA that much! The Mavs and San Antonio are the real deal also (deserving of a cover), but the Suns are the most exciting team watch. And forget about Kobe, King James and Arenas. Love the fact the Suns get do much genuine love from the Fans. They are a likeable franchise with likeable faces, game and approach, and it helps that they are quite good, taking the firendly approach to killing people. To discuss a few issues here…
-Suns looked pretty good today, didn’t they?
-This issue will be on sale in New York this week; rest of country by April 7 or so.
-Obviously the Flames were added in Photoshop or something similar; no, we didn’t actually light a fire behind the players.
-The “jump pages that a few people are complaining about are designed to make our Punks section look better. See, every issue the ad team sells a few “fractional” ads that take up part of a page. We were sticking these fractionals in the Punks section, making that section cramped and not as good looking as it could be. This seemed silly since that is our high school section and so many of our readers are in the demographic, so why make that the ugliest section? So we needed some pages to break up with fractionals, and creating jump pages seemed like the best move. It’s not like the desgin for the jumped stories worsens much; I hope you all agree that the Barkley and Morrison stories still looked great at the beginning. Also want everyone to know that places like GQ and Esquire, which are a lot more successful than SLAM, do jump pages every issue (not that we’re “biting” anyone. I’m over magazine beef).
So start looking for the Suns issue and keep the comments coming.

Please tell me more about this “Phoenix Suns” of which you speak Slam. They aren’t getting enough pub. Oh, and Slam Online, please don’t pretend Sunday is a glimpse into the true state of Suns/Mavs. Phoenix had a lot more to play for than Dallas. The Mavs were outplayed for sure, but they came into the game having virtually locked up the #1 seed. They did not play with the same sense of urgency that a playoff game would require, nor did they match Phoenix’s energy level. Phoenix had San Antonio nipping at their heels for the #2 spot. Nothing is guaranteed come playoff time, but let’s not act like Sunday matters in the grand scheme of things.

Im here to talk about the MVP i know dirk is going to win it because the nba always gives it to the wrong guy. like last year when it should have been LeBron. I know that they just give the the mvp to the best player on the best team every year. That is why they should change it to the BOBT(best player on best team) award. this season you just have to look at the stats. The MOST VALUABLE PLAYER is kobe bryant (believe me i’m not even a kobe fan). It is clear that he is the most valuable to his team without him this team would not even win 15 games. look at what he dose for them on a nightly basis, sure he takes a lot of shots but what else is he gonna do pass it to those looser teammates of his that cant hit a shot for their lives. So back to dirk he is not an mvp. if you took him away from this team they have players who could carry the load(J-5) and still carry this team to a 50+ win season you could argue that dirk is not even the best player on their team. Josh howard is a beast on D always guarding the best players on the other teams like the kobe’s and the lebron’s Dirk dosent even play defense hes just thinking about their next offensive possesion. KG is even a better pick for MVP just compare their stats and you will see who is better. Dirk is Over rated. dont even get me started on Nash 2 words STAT and MATRIX. KOBE 4 MVP

I have to say that this one was the best since ish 100. Not only did you do an whole article about the Suns (Where are the Mavs now?) but also on the Bulls, who just swept the defending Champs.
