Last Week in Las Ligas

CLASICO!

By Jake and Oliver

It was clasico weekend in Spain last week. Here are the highlights of this great match.

Barcelona 3 Real Madrid 3

That’s nine minutes of awesome right there.

Atletico won; Sevilla was upset by Nastic (trippy video, too); Valencia drew with Osasuana; Nothing else really matters.

It was a cup weekend this past week, with Manchester United and Chelsea still planning on that dream final at the new Wembley, which by the way looks incredible (as should a stadium that has cost well over a billion dollars)

On top of that we had the Manchester United against the ‘Rest Of The World XI’ featuring C. Ronaldo and Rooney for Man U and Zlatan Imbrahimovic, Marco Materazzi, Steven Gerrard and Mancini from the rest of the world……and a couple of midweek Premiership games to boot

FA CUP

Chelsea 3-3 Tottenham

An incredible fight back from Chelsea to claim a replay at White Hart Lane thanks to a late Salomon Kalou strike

Middlesbrough 2-2 Manchester United

A harshly awarded Ronaldo penalty means a replay at Old Trafford will see who goes through to the next round

Blackburn 2-0 Man City

Plymouth Argyle 0-1 Watford

Charity Match

Manchester United 4-3 World XI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiowjlCx3pc&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Efootytube%2Ecom%2F

Almost like an NBA All Star game with some of the best players in the world playing in an exhibition match- worth watching for the awesome Ronaldo free kick

Premier League

Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal

Lucky break for Arsenal as Diaby deflects a Baptista shot into the net and Arsenal hold on for the three points

Man City 0-1 Chelsea

The champs move within 6 points of the leaders Manchester United with a battling win over the flailing Manchester City

Goal of the Week

Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning freekick in the charity game

Player of the Week

Ronaldo- was his shimmying best in the charity match scoring a stunning free kick and was near unstoppable in the cup draw with Middlesbrough

I thought not, O. Gotta say, though — and Ben, knowing your Giants could use a linebacker, I hope you’ll appreciate this — Lehmann made one of the best open-field tackles I’ve seen in a long time in the first half. Ya man looked like Brian Uhrlacher out there…

Congrats on the nice win, Ryan. I really wanted the 0-0 draw but you guys deserved the W. Arsenal’s offense sucked. And how bout that weather at the end?! Those hail stones looked violent.

Ryan Jones says:
The fact that we actually played 4-4-2 against you guys both shocked and pleased me. And yeah, that weather was insane.
