Player of the D.A.Y.
3025
There are a lot of players who are worthy today. Dwyane Wade carried the Heat by himself, Bosh was great for the Raptors, Dikembe Mutombo had 19 boards, 5 blocks, and one amazing quote, but…
30 points and 25 rebounds. Dwight Howard. And this wasn’t some crazy wide-open Phoenix Suns game where the stats get inflated. The Magic rebounding edge was only 52-45. Dwight grabbed 9 of those boards off the offensive glass. He got half of the rebounds for his team and scored a career high.

The Warriors are fragile & soft in the middle…it showed big time last night. Dwight Howard is a beast & is Orlando’s new “Diesel” to ride on for years to come.

The crazy thing is that the last player to have 30/20 game in regulation in the last 10 years was….Lorezen Wright? Huh? I thought Hakeem or KG or David Robinson would have something like that. D12 is just dope.

chump of the d.a.y. unfortunately was tony allen. while in the third, after a whistle was blown o na foul, allen goes straight to the basket for a dunk attempted, missed, and comes down awkward, injurying himself. may i remind folks that this was on a dead ball. its unfortunate that this happened to him and his season may be over, but he’s solely responsible. the celtics did go on to lose, missing allens 19 points, in which he led all scorers for the celtics.

I nominate Desmond Mason for Chump of the D.A.Y. Can you say ZERO impact in 30 minutes? WOW. And this guy was in the Dunk contest? UUGH!! I watched the Raps game and was going to nominate Blake for it, but after learning about the trade today I figured he was missing those shots on purpose. (the Bosh block on Ruben was SIIICK. )

Howard is surviving on pure athletic ability right now. His game has progressed, but still very raw. Think about this guy in 2 - 3 years with a polished game and some play-off experience under his belt. Scary to think where the ceiling is for Dwight Howard.
