Cavalier girls in Iraq
The NBA continues to spread joy to every piece of land on this planet.
Peoples Champstigator Lang Whitaker has directed my attention to the official site of the Cleveland Cavs.
So… the Cavalier girls are travelling to Iraq and blogging about it. There’s not much more I can add to this other than to give you some of my favorite excerpts.
We saw some camels just chilling in the sand like it was normal, but to us it looked so crazy! When we arrived at the base we were first introduced to some lieutenants and commanders and they talked about what they did on the base and they then presented us with some gifts (certificates, coins, and patches).
Some of the girls are playing through pain:
I was a little upset at first, because I could not dance all the dances because of my injury, but my spirits were still so high!! It was so much fun getting up there and having a crowd like we did!!
And this really gives you some perspective on the war:
After that, we got off in Kuwait only to find they had lost mine and Vandana’s luggage. Ahhhh! Talk about freaking out.
I don’t have a greater point to make here other than to say that I find this all very amusing. And don’t be fooled by that photo. There will not be an ASG in Kuwait. Well, they are having it in Vegas…

This reminds me of a trip I made with my HS ball team in 1992 to a tournament in Emeryville, CA (long way from home for a bunch of Canadian kids). Well, we were travelling through Oakland and one of our cheerleaders noticed a homeless person sleeping by the side of the road. She said “Oh, that’s so sad…” and proceeded to take approximately 356 pictures of said homeless dude. Lovely.

356 pictures, tell your school to get a faster bus, you should only have time for 3, 4 max.

Like whatever. They are so like supporting our troops - how can you even make fun of them? I mean it’s so easy to sit back and laugh, but have you ever had your bags lost before? It’s like so not funny. And I can only imagine how difficult it could be to try and find Maxfactor base color 149 in Coowait. Not to mention my other vital things. I mean I feel for them, some troops have lost arms and legs and there they were without their pushup bras and t-backs. And if you thought finding quality cosmetic products in Quewate was tough, you can’t even begin to imagine the kind of underwear they have in those stores of theirs – talk about torture camps! I hope they get a veteran’s medal or something – if not they should invent a cheerleader (ahem dance team) medal for acts of bravery and stuff. SAM / SLAM should be ashamed of themselves for hating on patriotic girls like that and should now fund a “I support our cavalier girls in Cutewayte” ribbon.

Telling it like it is says:
I’d be surprised if any of you (slam&posters) ever left the country net alone ever stepped foot in the Middle East. How about you find something else to bitch about? Just be glad that those troops that the girls went to visit are the same ones that fight for your right to make such stupid commits. So why don’t you slam writers and posters go do something for our troops, all that’s right YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BRING TO THE TABLE. Next time you try to make a negative out of a positive how about you GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS’S .
