Nellie: Promiscuous Boy
Don Nelson finds yet another job…
Get out the fish ties!
After spending a year and a half “consulting” for the Dallas Mavericks, it appears Don Nelson got tired of hanging around his Hawaii home and watching the Mavs on HDNet. Besides, Nellie has never been able to sit idly by when there are so many polished sidelines waiting for him to stalk up and down.
Reports are circulating today that Nellie has agreed to return to coaching and become the head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Mike Montgomery will take his whistle and a rather large check and go home.
It’s like the early ’90s all over again! The Warriors have a bunch of athletic guys on their roster, and Nellie will almost certainly employ the same run-n-gun show he’s installed throughout his career.
Warriors, come out and play.

Wow. Well, at least they won’t be trading for Chris Webber.

This should scare the shit out of everyone in the “New” NBA West that has completely bit Nelson’s patented style. Also, I’m not wondering about Webber, Spree, Hardaway, or Mullin. I’m interested in Paul Pressey 2007.

Nellie is the last coach to take Golden State to the playoffs. That was Chris Webber’s rookie year. They traded Webber to keep Nellie happy, and have not been back to the playoffs since. So, Nellie is going to be the savior for a team that has needed a savior since Nellie ruined the team. Very weird move.

montgomery was overwhelmed at the pro level. his stanford team only did well coz they recruit well. the warriors never seem to have any ideas on offense. i think the backcourt of jason richardson and baron davis would love it. kinda like how spree flies along with timmy back in the days. if they have one good shooter and one good post player, it’s on. well, until mr baron “the broken man” davis goes down. again. just typical good fortune of warriors. as of lil’ dun, he’s not bad. he really does try hard and has pretty good basketball IQ. problem is he really isn’t much of a basketball player. but damnit, you gotta cheer for him, cause he provides us joy with his unbelievable facial expressions.
