What’s Going On…
After four years on the old site, we’re finally new and improved. Read all about it…
by Lang Whitaker
Perhaps you remember our little site we used to call SLAMonline.com. It was balky like the new Knick Renaldo and old school like P.J. Brown. We had The Links, I’m Just Saying…, The D.A.Y., Omar and various other things in there. It was fun, and we worked hard at it, but it was like washing the dishes without using your thumbs — at the end of the day, there was only so much that we could do.
Well, welcome to the new SLAMonline. All that old stuff? It’s still here. But now we’re new and improved, with all kinds of cool bells and whistles.
How does all this work? Play around with it. But basically, you can read all of The Links by clicking on “The Links” whenever you see it written in orange. Same with any other section. And you can post comments down below, too. (Your first time you post we have to approve you, but after that you’ll be free to write anything you want.) We’ll be posting more often — even posting live from games and events, using our Sidekicks — and video, podcasts and other cool stuff is on the way. And check out the homepage: we even have live news and scores up in there.
For now though, you can check out The Links and Sam’s new column, Sam Online, which we’ve both been typing away on the last few days.
Have fun, and we’ll see ya on Monday.

Nice crib! Lang, I just would like to say YAY! for RSS feed, and though you’ve “blogging” waaay before that term was coined, it’s nice that the column and site is suited for Interweb 2.0 land! Been a long time reader and I can’t wait to keep up with the stuff coming in and see all the shiny new stuff! And oh yea…Zizou should be on STRIKER’s cover, like yesterday.

Thanks for the kind words. When the site goes live this week (allegedly) things should pick up around here. Striker isn\’t really alive, I don\’t think. Who knows. But Zizou is the one guy I\’m upset we never did a feature on. I was supposed to talk to him in Madrid last year when I was over there for Beckham, but something happened at the last minute and I never got a chance to interview him. Love his skill and demeanor, don\’t love when he headbutts someone in the chest as hard as he can and takes himself out of the PK round. Although that was one of the strangest things I\’ve ever seen happen in a sports event, especially a game that huge.

Beautiful new site though it’s a bit confusing and seems too broken up, but slam is the best so I’ll keep reading

Just a thing regarding Zidane. It is such a shame that a player of such a caliber puts himself in a situation like this. If u look on the things like that there would be a brawl at every NBA game beacause of all the trash talkers. And about Materazzi–>MVP for sure.

Lang & Sam, I like the site. As a long-time linkstigator, I’ve been checking back constantly for updates to the site, anixously wondering what changes you’d make. The Links is my daily read (without fail) for years now and it does pain me (ever so little) to see the current format… I think the thing that most people are missing is the large blurb of commentary (blog-style) that you had at the top of the Links each day… If you could change your Links posts to reflect the old format, everything else is perfect! Cheers

Just wanted to say the new site looks fresh can’t wait to get a good chance to explore it more.
Should be really great to visit once the season begins. Thanks for the hard work you’ve put into the old site and the hard work you’ve obviously done to creating the new site.
Been a daily links reader for several years now, will be so for a long long long time.

The new web site SUCKS! i liked it better when there was nothing and Lang actually came to work with the desire and passion to write a daily links column. Now he seems to have gotten comfortable and forgot his roots of what got himn there. But, it happens to the best of us.
