As I mentioned the other day, I wanted to re-run the audio from Mike James‘ appearance on SLAM Radio a few months ago. I could have run the text, but to experience Mike James in full you really have to hear him talk, his fire and conviction. And of course, now that’s he’s signed a deal with the T-Wolves, it’s fun to listen to knowing where’s come from and where he’s going.

Admire his passion and desire to win… but as a Raptors fan I think the chip on his shoulder was the size of a golden nugget and he made too many late game situations personal rather than doing what’s best for the team. Still, loved his willingness to take a shot and his passion. Peace to Mike James

I didn’t listen through this whole interview, but I did hear James say that he can match or beat any other point guard in the L, hands down. He doesn’t seem to understand that his job here in Toronto was to PASS first and shoot second, not to beat his matchup and throw up an awkward runner or take an ill-advised 3. Like Tunez said, down the stretch it seemed that James was too focussed on being the lone hero than winning with his team. But Tunez, what you call a willingness to take a shot, i call an unwillingness to pass for the better play.
