A top high school recruit is dunzo…
by Lang Whitaker
The big preps news yesterday came when high school senior Bill Walker, who plays (well, played) alongside O.J. Mayo in Ohio and is considered one of the top recruits around, was ruled ineligible for the upcoming high school season. Word traveled fast on this one — by the time Kevin Love and his dad and brother rolled through our office yesterday in the afternoon, they’d already heard about it.
What happens now? Who knows? I’ve heard he could stay and challenge the ruling, he could go to the NBA next season (he’s already 19, apparently), I’ve heard he could go to Europe…who knows?

I THINK THAT THIS IS AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION FOR A YOUNG MAN WITH HIS TALENTS, BUT HE SHOULD FOCUS ON SCHOOL AND GET PREPARED FOR COLLEGE. HE CAN WORKOUT AT HOME AND FIND DIFFERENT CLINICS TO GO TO TO GET READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL BECAUSE HIS FUTURE IS ALREADY SET FOR HIM.THERE WILL ALLWAYS BE CHALLENGES IN LIFE BUT IT’S HOW YOU OVERCOME THEM THAT MAKES YOU A BETTER MAN.

He is already 19 so he should go into the draft next year.

I saw Bill play up close last season, and I don’t see him being ready for the League yet. At 6′6″, he is undersized for his skill set. Stay in school. He can be a great college player and make the NBA eventually, but not in the next year or even two.

im not exactly sure why he is ineligibe but i think i read something somewhere that he played varsity 4 years 8th grade till his jr year, then he was 19 already…. or something like that

Hmmm…talented high school player declared ineligible for his senior year, and considers jumping to the league immediately… Sound familiar? Lenny Cooke anyone…?

I have seen Bill Walker play in person. He has a lot of athleticism that an NBA player possesses but he is no where ready for the pros. He would be best served going to college for a couple of years. The reason he is so good at the High school level is because he is playing with the best player in the country and they are so worried about stopping him they let Walker roam.

He is inelidgeable because he played varsity ball at rose hill in 8th grade and has used up the rest of his elidgeability playing 3 years at NCH. But o.j. is not the reason Bill is so good. he can dunk like carter can now and hes a beast on d. if that was the only reason he was good then wound’t damion butler or andre evans be just as famous. (By the way they are two other NCH players.) Walker just plain out has game or he wouldn’t be the no.2 player in the class, only o.j. is in front of him.

I think if he doesn’t go pro he’s gonna go to Kansas State to play for Huggins or to USC.

I think anyone in their right mind knows he shouldn’t go pro. But i think that he should change his plans about college, im refering 2 his & o.j mayo’s decision 2 go 2 the same college and b the same 1-2 punch they were in highschool. P.S
this is coming from a 14 year old freshmen(but i do play varsity)

Bill Walkers age is the reason why he is in eligible. I played with a player who suffered from the same circumstances. He should focus on raising his s.a.t scores and get ready for college one year is not going to affect his game.

Sky Walker (II) should take some finance, media and public speaking courses this year to get ready for his future career. He should also take the same courses his first and only year in college. I am a supporter of the “kids should go to college for 2 ears to be eligible for the NBA (or MLB/NHL etc)

In the state of Ky. you can play HS. ball as a 7th and 8th grader. Rose hill said although he started his 8th grade yr. at Huntington St.Joe, when he transfered Rose hill put him in there books as a 9th grader. So he and his mom went to NCH. Now he can’t play ball at NCH and OJ transfered to Huntington High today which will be one of the best teams in the country. Bill will play for Huggins.

Was that really the King’s comment up there? It was really funny either way. Walker doesn’t need more experience. He should go pro. But then again, we all know where Shaq made his money at that age, say it with me, Coll-ege. If he goes pro at least he’ll be playing with dudes his own age, ha ha.
