Through the second round of All-Star voting, Kobe Bryant has over 1.2 million votes to start in this February’s All-Star Game. Vino leads the League, with reigning MVP Stephen Curry coming in second at 925,789 votes.
Bryant’s farewell tour has been filled with adoring crowds chanting his name and opposing players wanting his autograph. But even he was surprised when the first All-Star voting returns came in and he was ahead of the pack, saying “Shocked doesn’t do it justice.”
In the East, LeBron James holds the top spot with 636,388 votes, followed by Dwyane Wade with 562,558 votes.
Bryant and Curry could be joined in the West starting lineup by Draymond Green. The Warriors forward has 332,223 votes, behind Kevin Durant and just ahead of Kawhi Leonard.
The next returns for All-Star voting will be January 14. Voting closes on January 18 at 11:59 PM EST, with the starters being announced on Inside the NBA on TNT on January 21.
