Kobe Bryant Close to Record for Most Missed Shots in NBA History

You play long enough, and you’re bound to break some records. For Kobe Bryant, his latest entry into the NBA’s history books isn’t something to be too proud of.

Kobe is now just thirteen bricks away from breaking the all-time mark for the most missed field goal attempts.

Bryant’s Laker teammates and coaches, diplomatically, say you’ve got to take the good with the bad.

Per the OC Register:

Bryant very well could set the record Tuesday at Memphis for most shots missed all-time in the NBA, eclipsing John Havlicek’s mark of 13,417 in 1,270 regular-season games. Bryant has missed 13,405 shots in 1,251 regular-season games after going 7 for 20 on Sunday in the Lakers’ first victory of the season.

“He has the ultimate confidence, no question,” (Carlos) Boozer said. “I’ve seen Kobe make shots that most guys couldn’t even think about doing. … That’s why fans come every night. You might see him do something that you’ll never see again in your life. He’s worth the admission price.”

Coach Byron Scott isn’t surprised by the number of Bryant’s misses. He got a glimpse into what was in store for fans and opponents alike during the star’s rookie season. Bryant lofted three airballs in a playoff loss against Utah and kept shooting. […] “We knew about him at that time … that it was going to make him stronger,” Scott said. “It did. He’s come back with a vengeance. … He’s never been shy and has always been aggressive.”
